Britains Metal Models, set number 7248, 1982 (c)
This set of six diecast model figures includes two policemen, a Yeoman of the Guard, Horseguard, Life Guard and Scots Guard.
Toy manufacturer William Britain Junior invented a process of hollow-casting in lead in 1893, revolutionising the process of making toy soldiers. The style and scale of the figures made by the toy maker became the industry standard for many years, and they were widely imitated.
