Warrior armoured fighting vehicle, 19 Light Brigade, Basra, Iraq, 2007

Digital photograph by Corporal Ian Forsyth, Army Photographer Royal Logistic Corps, 2007.

British forces move back to Basra Air Station following the handover of the Shatt al-Arab Hotel base in Basra to Iraqi security forces. The Warrior is negotiating a route protected by concrete blast walls. These kind of defences were in common use in British Army bases in Iraq and Afghanistan and were designed to protect against vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED), cars and trucks filled with explosives.
