A Scimitar CVR (T) light reconnaissance tank in Helmand, 2011

The Scimitar Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Tracked) carries a 30 mm Rarden cannon for self-defence. Secondary armament consists of a coaxial machine gun and multi-barrelled smoke grenade dischargers.

Within the British Army, the Scimitar is used by the reconnaissance regiments of the Royal Armoured Corps and reconnaissance elements of the armoured infantry.
