1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment were part of 16 Air Assault Brigade during their third deployment to Afghanistan as part of Operation HERRICK VIII, from May to October 2008. The helmet cover bears the Royal Irish Regiment tactical recognition flash, a green shamrock on a black square.
