Theatre Military Working Dog Support Units were based at Camp Bastion throughout the British Army's deployment in Afghanistan. They employed a variety of dog breeds including Cocker Spaniels, German Shepherds and Labrador Retrievers. The dogs were used primarily for security and search purposes.
