'Just Keep Digging', 2012
Pen and ink with watercolour by Dave Brown.
This cartoon was published in 'The Independent' on 20 September 2012. It satirises British foreign and defence policy in Afghanistan. It shows the then Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, William Hague MP, and the then Secretary of State for Defence, Philip Hammond MP, in 19th century British Army uniforms on Afghanistan's plains, digging themselves deeper and deeper into a hole. They are surrounded by casualties - including those in military boots and a barefooted person in typical Afghan dress.
