Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Maxwell Grant, 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment of Foot, 1815 (c)
Miniature portrait in watercolour on ivory, artist unknown, 1815 (c).
Grant was a veteran of the campaign in Egypt (1799-1802) and the Peninsular War (1808-1814), serving with the 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment of Foot and Portuguese forces. In this portrait he wears the neck badge of a Knight Companion of the Bath. The National Army Museum Collection also contains a group of Grant's medals, including his Knight Companion of the Bath neck badge (NAM. 2016-12-15-1).
