Storming a building at the Stanford Training Area, Norfolk, November 2015

Digital image by Corporal Max Bryan, 2015.

Dismounted mechanised infantry from 2nd Battalion, The Royal Anglian Regiment, known as 'The Poachers', training in an urban warfare environment at the Stanford Training Area (STANTA) in Norfolk. As well as using the Army's high-tech Tactical Engagement Simulation System, the training involved more traditional equipment like scaling ladders. These were used extensively in Afghanistan to navigate mud compound walls, avoiding the use of doorways and gates that were often the site of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

From a collection of digital photographs associated with the British Army training 2013-2017.
