A group of soldiers, probably non-commisioned officers of the 1st Battalion, The Welsh Regiment, posing in front of the Sphinx and pyramids at Giza in Egypt. Several of the men are on camels and a couple have dogs in the saddle with them. The group is accompanied by some Egyptian civilians.
From a photograph album belonging to Colonel William Spottiswoode Sparkes, 1st Battalion The Welsh Regiment and the Egyptian Army, relating to his service in England, South Africa, Malta, Egypt, Canada and France, between 1881 and 1895 (c).
