Tactical recognition flash, 52 Infantry brigade, 2002-2010
Square green woven patch with a white St Andrew's Cross on a blue shield with a black border.
52nd Infantry Brigades were formed in both world wars but this most recent iteration derives from the 52nd (Lowland) Brigade formed in 1982, itself a successor unit of the 52nd Lowland Division, part of the Territorial Force. It was re-titled 52nd Infantry Brigade (UK) in 2002. The brigade consisted of Regular Army units from Scotland and the North West of England, its regional and Territorial Army responsibilities falling to 51 Scottish Brigade.
52 Infantry Brigade was transferred to 3rd (UK) Division on 1 April 2007. However the Brigade was only used once operationally for one deployment to Afghanistan in 2007-2008 (Operation HERRICK VII) prior to disbandment in 2010.
