Falkland Islands Defence Force shoulder title
The Falkland Islands Defence Force is a locally maintained volunteer defence unit, which works alongside British Army units to maintain the security of the Islands. Initially established in 1847, it was ordered to surrender a day after it was mobilised during the Falklands War (1982). Re-established after the war the Falklands Islands Defence Force now meet weekly for training and have regular weekend training exercises, often in partnership with the Regular Army.
