The West Midlands Regiment was a Territorial Army regiment formed in 1999 from the 3rd Battalion, Staffordshire Regiment, 4th Battalion Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters, 5th Battalion Light Infantry and 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. The Regiment became the 4th Battalion of the Mercian Regiment in 2007 when it was amalgamated with the Cheshire Regiment and the King's and Cheshire Regiment, which had similar recruiting areas.
St Chad was a Christian bishop and abbot in 7th Century Mercia and Northumbria who was canonised as a saint.
