Digital photograph by Giles Penfound, Operation TELIC, 2004.
The Cheshire Regiment in Basra during Operation RAT TRAP in June 2004. RAT TRAP involved mounting moveable vehicle checkpoints designed to apprehend potential terrorists and confiscate concealed weapons. The area where the soldiers were patrolling was known as 'IED alley', because of the numerous improvised explosive device attacks by local militants.
One of a collection of photographs taken by a variety of Army photographers, relating to Operation TELIC, Iraq.
