Khadi poppy lapel badge, 2019
The petals were hand made with khadi, a hand spun cotton cloth, with a green paper leaf, black plastic centre and green plastic stalk, manufactured for the Royal British Legion, 2019. Khadi cloth was popularised by Mahatma Gandhi, who spun natural fibre cloth on his spinning wheel to promote the idea of self-reliance rather than importing cloth.
Made as part of Royal British Legion's 'Thank You' campaign, 2019. These poppies were made to commemorate the Indian contribution to World War One (1914-1918).
