Cap badge, 1st (Nyasaland) Battalion King's African Rifles, 1939-1953 (c)

Brass cap badge in the form of a bugle horn, surmounted by a crown with the numeral, '1', between the knotted cords; with a scroll below with the unit title, 'King's African Rifles'.

The King's African Rifles were formed by the British in East Africa in 1902 with six battalions drawn from the Central Africa Regiment, the East Africa Rifles and the Uganda Rifles. The 1st and 2nd Battalions were located in Nyasaland.

From a framed display of 20 cap badges relating to East African Regiments, World War Two (1939-1945).
