The King's Own Royal Border Regiment was formed in 1959 by the amalgamation of the Border Regiment and the King's Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster). Its motto is 'Tried and Valiant, for Duty not Display'. Following service in Iraq the regiment was amalgamated again in 2006, when it became the 3rd Battalion, Duke of Lancaster's Regiment (King's Lancashire and Border).
