2nd China War Medal 1857-60, with clasp, 'Taku Forts 1860', awarded to Sergeant John Eaton, 1st Battalion, 3rd (The East Kent) Regiment of Foot (The Buffs)
Circular, silver campaign medal with the head of Queen Victoria and the inscription, 'Victoria Regina', on the obverse. On the reverse, a shield bearing the Royal Arms, with palm tree and trophy of arms, with the inscription, 'Armis Exposcere Pacim' (They demanded peace by force of arms), with, 'China', in the exergue below. The medal is suspended from a red and yellow ribbon with a single clasp bearing the battle honour, 'Taku Forts 1860'.
The National Army Museum has successfully reunited this medal with Sergeant John Eaton's Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, accessioned in 2002.
