Hollow wooden bolt used to carry messages, 1943 (c)

Writing messages and diaries was banned in Japanese POW camps in the Second World War (1939-1945). To get around this, ingenious methods of hiding messages were found. For example here a hollow wooden model of a metal bolt has been made that can carry rolled up pieces of paper.
