Witton and Daw and Co .45 inch percussion revolver, 1862 (c)

This six chambered revolver has a metal mount added to it with an inscription relating to the death of its owner Lieutenant Charles Medcalfe Halhed, 54th Madras Native Infantry, at the hands of dacoits on the British Burma border in 1862. Halhed apparently shot three dacoits but his weapon misfired on the fourth shot. Fitted with a reciprocating gas check cylinder based on Lang's patent, this revolver was popular in India.
