'Good Bye! The 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards Leaving Waterloo Station, October 21st 1899'

The print shows troops leaving London for service in the Boer War in 1899. The 3rd Battalion arrived in South Africa in November 1899, forming part of a Guards Brigade. It was quickly in action, fighting at Belmont and Modder River. The battalion remained in Africa until the end of the war.
