Scabbard for sword bayonet, pattern 1913, Sergeant S W Scott, No 3 Commando, 1940 (c)

Bayonet scabbard, World War One (1914-1918), dated 1917.

Stanley Wilfred 'Scotty' Scott served with 3 Troop, No 3 Commando, 1943-1945. Scott served with the Home Guard and the Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey) before joining the Commandos in 1943. He trained at Achnacarry in Scotland. Scott took part in the operation to capture 'Pegasus Bridge' on D-Day, 6 June 1944. After being wounded in Normandy, Scott was returned to England but he later rejoined his unit in North West Europe for the advance into Germany.
