Indian matchlock torador, 1880 (c)

This smoothbore, matchlock firearm, with an approximately .65 inch bore, is inlaid with ivory or bone decoration, and is thought to be of Central Indian pattern, probably Mahratta or Rajput in origin. It was reputedly taken in the Khyber Pass during the Relief of Kandahar by Lord Roberts in 1880, during the 2nd Afghan War (1878-1880).
