Scabbard for Pattern 1908 Cavalry Trooper's Sword, 14th (King's) Hussars

After almost a century of controversy regarding the ideal sword for cavalry, the British Army designed a sword after extensive testing and feedback from the cavalry regiments themselves. It resulted in the Pattern 1908, a thrusting weapon, which was regarded as the finest cavalry sword ever issued. Unfortunately it appeared at the moment when the machine-gun had rendered cavalry charges and swords obsolescent.
