Bugle, Russian Forces, Crimean War, 1854 (c)

Brass double-coiled bugle (B-flat or C) with a small bell flare and reinforced rim. Embossed oval brass plaque on bell with a variation of the Russian coat of arms with double-headed eagle with spread wings, holding a thunderbolt and a torch in its claws, with an image of St George slaying the dragon on the breast (shield).

This instrument was used by Russian forces and was presumably taken by a British serviceman as a souvenir during the Crimean War (1854-1856).
