Browning FN 9 mm Hi-Power No 2 Mk I* self-loading pistol, 1970 (c)

This pistol was manufactured by John Inglis and Company in Toronto, Canada, and was the standard pistol used by British and Canadian forces from late 1944 until the 1963. After the Second World War the No.2 MkI* was the preferred version of the Browning Hi Power.

It was also used by the Canadians serving in Germany as part of their commitment to NATO during the Cold War. The Canadian brigade was based in Soest in the British Zone from 1957 to 1993.

British soldiers also used it until 1963, when the L9A1 Browning Hi-Power was introduced - though some British soldiers still used this version until the 1980s.
