Triumph Tiger 750 cc Escort motorcycle, 1970 (c)

Army registration: 04 GX 29.

Motor cycles have long been used by the military for a variety of different duties, but this particular model has close links to the Army's time in Germany. It was used by 16 Tank Transporter Squadron, Royal Corps of Transport. For many years, 16 Tank Transporter Squadron were based in Fallingbostel in Germany. From 1945 to 1972 the unit was staffed by mostly Poles from the Mixed Service Organisation - nicknamed the Mojos. From 1972 onwards they were replaced by British soldiers of the Royal Corps of Transport. In 1987 the MSO were disbanded. But the Polish link endures in the eagle symbol. In 1993, 16 Tank Transporter Squadron became part of 7 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps - who continue to wear the eagle today as part of their unit flash.
