Triumph 3-wheel vehicle, 1926 (c)

In 1925 in an attempt to improve cross country performance of motor cycles six manufacturers including Triumph were asked to produce a three wheeled motor cycle to which caterpillar tracks could be fitted to the rear two wheels. The sole survivor is a Triumph 'Trusty' Mk 2P, 500 side valve, 3.5 hp, engine.

The conversion work was done at P Company Workshops, Aldershot in 1926. Trials were also conducted in India in 1927. The testing was done entirely by Captain Charles Bennet of the Royal Army Service Corps and the project was cancelled in 1928 after very unsatisfactory results ending with an accident in which one of the drivers was killed.
