An ambulance jeep being lifted out of the mud, Burma, 1944 (c)

Photograph, World War Two, Far East (1941-1945), 1944 (c).

Soldiers of the King's African Rifles, part of 11th East African Division, help rescue a trapped vehicle from thick jungle mud by using levers and a section of corduroy road. The latter consisted of sand-covered logs laid across the boggy section of ground.
