'Economy' version cap badge, other ranks, Royal Signals, 1943 (c)

Brown plastic badge made by A Stanley and Sons, Walsall, with the figure of the Roman god Mercury within an oval, bearing the unit title, 'Royal Corps of Signals', surmounted by a crown.

Introduced to economise on brass and other metals in badge production. Contracts ran from February 1942 through to June 1946. They were produced in several colours including silver, brass, chocolate brown, mid brown and dark blue for the Royal Marines.
