Multi-terrain pattern (MTP) patrol pack, in service October 2009

The 45 litre patrol pack is part of the Personal Load Carrying Equipment (PLCE) or 'webbing' system which aims to hold everything a soldier needs to operate for 48 hours. It is constructed from 1,000 denier UKMC nylon fabric and includes a main compartment, twin internal stowage straps and a fully extendable lid. MTP camouflage is designed to blend with the range of environments in Afghanistan and was developed after extensive laboratory tests and field evaluations, which included aerial and scientific photography to provide the right colours and brightness for the new pattern.

£3,000 worth of contents selected through system of feedback from post-operational reports and trials conducted by the Infantry Trials and Development Unit which is staffed by personnel just back from operations.
