Trojan Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers, Afghanistan, 2010

A vehicle from 5 Armoured Engineer Squadron, 23 Engineer Regiment (Air Assault), during Operation HAMKARI, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, in 2010. Note the toy pig mascot, 'George' a character from the children's cartoon 'Peppa Pig', mounted on the vehicle.

Built by BAE Systems, the Trojan Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers (AVRE) is a vehicle designed to carry out engineering tasks in combat conditions. It is fitted with a plough for clearing obstacles and pathways through minefields, a fascine for filling ditches and a hydraulic excavator arm for excavation tasks. The vehicle was first deployed in Afghanistan in 2009.
