This cartoon was published in 'The Daily Telegraph' on 7 September 2014. It shows a British soldier leaving Afghanistan (2001-2014) via a revolving door. Coming the other way is a heavily armed Taleban insurgent.

This cartoon summarises much of the uncertainty ahead of the British withdrawal from Afghanistan in October 2014. It reflects the general mood that the British leaving would enable the Taleban and other insurgents to quickly take back control of Helmand from the nascent Afghan forces that the British had been training.
