Manuscript notebook belonging to Major James Archibald Hope, 1811-1813

This manuscript notebook covers a two-year period of Hope's service during the Peninsular War (1808-1814). It comprises descriptions and notes of the roads between major towns and cities and and general remarks upon the province of Estremadura in Spain, where Hope served as aide-de-camp to General Lord Thomas Graham.
