Box for model soldier set, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise's, William Britain Limited

Cardboard box for William Britain Limited's Box Set No 15, 'Princess Louise's Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders 91st Foot', from the series, 'British Soldiers'. The hollow-cast lead alloy model soldier set includes seven highlanders running or charging. The box lid records the battle honours of the regiment including those from the Peninsular War (1808-1814), Crimean War (1854-1856), Indian Mutiny (1857-1859), and Boer War (1899-1902).

William Britain began producing toy soldiers and military miniatures in 1893 and soon gained a reputation for making the most finely detailed and historically accurate figures available. The company continue to manufacture them today.
