A sketch of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, at the Battle of Waterloo, 1815. In 1815 the Duke of Wellington commanded the Allied Army which, together with the Prussians, finally defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June 1815. The duke is depicted riding his charger 'Copenhagen' past a horse artillery team during the Waterloo campaign. The National Army Museum's collection also includes a watercolour drawing of a similar composition by the same artist.
