Sepia watercolour over pencil on paper by Denis Dighton (1792-1827), signed lower right, 'Denis Dighton del/ MP. to his. RH.PR' [Military Painter to his Royal Highness the Prince Regent], 1815. Number 8 from a series of nine landscape views of the battlefield of Waterloo, painted shortly after the decisive battle.

A view of the battle-scarred farmhouse of La Haye Sainte. The farm was a strongpoint in the Allied line during the Battle of Waterloo and was the site of bitter fighting throughout the 18 June 1815.
