Letter sent by Captain Edward Kelly, 1st Life Guards, to his wife describing the Battle of Waterloo, 6 July 1815

Kelly describes his leg wound and his capture of the epaulettes of the Colonel of the French 1st Cuirassiers. He goes on to say that Lord Uxbridge has mentioned his conduct to the Duke of Wellington, and that Lord Combermere will be putting him on his staff, and although the officers and men would like to see him promoted following the death of Lieutenant-Colonel Samuel Ferrior, Captain James Whale will probably get the vacancy.
