Letter from Lieutenant-Colonel W Nicolay, Royal Staff Corps, to Major General John Brown, 12 October 1815
The letter from Paris discusses officers' recommended for brevet promotion after the Battle of Waterloo (1815). A major concern of the letter was the addition of Major Todd and his company to the Staff Corps serving in the army of occupation for whom there was little to do. He also became concerned about the future of the army of occupation itself and in the last letter sought Brown's advice on which if the members of the corps should remain in France.
One of four manuscript letters from Lieutenant-Colonel W Nicolay, Royal Staff Corps, to Major-General John Brown, 1815.
