Letter from the Reverend Samuel Briscoe from Paris to his sister Mary Briscoe in Stockport, 2 February 1815
The letter primarily contains news of Paris society. Briscoe writes of the Duke of Wellington: 'Your friend who told you that the Duke was not the greatest man in the world did not know what he was talking about. I only know that all great men I have seen in his presence seem to dwindle into insignificance.'
