Letter from Captain George Percival to his aunt, Mrs Charles Drummond, 11 July 1811
In this letter, sent from Saint Aluia (?), Percival has little news of the campaign. The main theme of this letter is the hardships of living in camp, exposed to scorching heat during the day and mosquitoes at night. He also reports that Lord Wellington has been unwell, and has taken on the Prince of Orange as an extra aide de camp in the Peninsula.
From a collection of 23 letters 1810-1814, written by Captain George Harvey Percival, Coldstream Guards.
