Sword, Major E L Hight, 1st Regiment of Infantry Punjab Frontier Force, 1898

Made by Hamburger, Rogers and Company, Covent Garden, London, nd. Inscribed with 'QV' cypher on blade and stringed bugle-horn on the guard pattern.

Edward Lancelot Hight was born 5 March 1858. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 67th (South Hampshire) Regiment of Foot. He joined the Indian Army and served with the 1st Regiment of Infantry Punjab Frontier Force, taking part in the 2nd Afghan War (1878-1880) and the Miranzai Expedition in 1891.
