Letter from Lieutenant William Staveley to his mother, 31 May 1815
Sent from Brussels in Belgium, the letter remarks that he has been on a short tour of the country, and describes a review taken by the Duke of Wellington who was accompanied by Marshal Blucher and other senior allied officers.
During the Waterloo campaign Staveley served with the Royal Staff Corps, arriving with a detachment of the latter in the Netherlands in April 1815. He was on the headquarters staff at the Battle Waterloo in June 1815.
