Bound manuscript letterbook containing copies and letters from Major-General Vivian's headquarters, 6 February 1815-3 July 1818
The 182 pages are addressed to officers of the Duke of Wellington's staff and commanders of regiments in Vivian's cavalry brigade. They relate to administrative matters such as deserters, court martials, leave of absence for officers and troop movements, to friction between troops and the local inhabitants and the poor quality food and forage supplied by French contractors.
From the private papers of Lieutenant General Sir Richard Hussey Vivian, 1815-1841.
