Japanese flag, Japanese Forces, 1944 (c)
Silk, front and back printed. In the centre a red sun without rays around which are black Japanese characters. Very narrow machine stitched hem all round. Each hoist corner is bound with a triangle of brown leather which bear tie-straps of white silk tape.
Japanese flags were popular trophies or souvenirs for British, Commonwealth and US forces serving in the Far East during World War Two, 1941-1945.
