Brass shell, made by Henry Potter and Company, 35 West Street, Charing Cross Road, London, 1906; repainted 1911 (c).

The front of the drum is emblazoned with the Royal Arms and the arms of Dublin. It also bears the Regimental nickname 'The Blue Caps'. This was derived from the colour of cap covers worn by their predecessor Regiment, the 1st Madras (European) Fusiliers, during the Indian Mutiny in 1857.

This drum was repainted after 1911 to reflect the change of monarch when King George V came to the throne.
