An officer of the 32nd Regiment of Bengal Native Infantry, 1828 (c)

Originally raised in 1798 as the 16th Bengal Native Infantry, this regiment was renumbered as the 32nd in 1824. In January 1826 it took part in the capture of the fortress at Bhurtpore (or Bharatpur) from Durjun Sal who had usurped the throne from the legitimate Raja of Bhurtpore. The storming force was led by the Commander-in-Chief in India, Lord Combermere.
