In 1795 Thomas Leybourne launched the journal, 'Mathematical and Philosophical Repository', which ran for 40 years. He also published other volumes of mathematical problems such as 'Leybourne's Mathematical Repository and the Gentleman's Mathematical Companion'. Leybourne was Professor of Mathematics and Arithmetic at the Royal Military College from 1802 until 1839. He died in 1840, aged 71.
