Cap, West Africa, 1873 (c)

Made of the fur of the Greater Cane Rat, otherwise known as a 'grasscutter'. This type of cap was worn by warriors. The cap was acquired by a soldier of the 15th Yorkshire East Riding Regiment during the 2nd Ashanti War (1873-1874).
