'Outlying Picket', Maynes Horse, Central India Horse, 1859

At the outset of the Indian Mutiny (1857-1859), Lieutenant Henry Otway Mayne, who was then serving with the Madras Cavalry, founded Mayne's Horse, an irregular cavalry regiment that later became the 1st Regiment of Central India Horse. They were stationed at the town of Guna, in the state of Gwalior and Augar.
