Major-General Sir Peter Melvill Melvill KCB, Bombay Army Staff, 1860 (c)

Born in Cornwall in 1803, Peter Melvill Melvill (1803-1895) joined the Bombay Army in 1819 and shortly afterwards joined the Gujerat Revenue Survey, later being posted to the Revenue Survey Department. He retired on 31 December 1861 with the honorary rank of major-general.
